NEW YORK, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IAC announced today that Greg Blatt, currently IAC's Executive Vice President and General Counsel, has been named Chief Executive Officer of Match.com.
"Greg Blatt is a superbly smart executive who's been part of our senior management at IAC for the last 5 years," said Barry Diller, Chairman and CEO of IAC. "Since September of 2008 he has had specific corporate oversight responsibility for Match.com and has demonstrated keen insights into the Match business and real ambition for all its possibilities."
Mr. Blatt succeeds Thomas Enraght-Moony, the previous CEO of Match.com who is leaving Match.com following today's announced sale of its European operations to Meetic. He will work with Mr. Blatt and the Match.com management team to ensure a seamless transition.
"Match.com has continued to grow and lead in its category under Thomas's leadership," said Mr. Blatt. "There are still real growth opportunities for the business, and Match has the right team in place to realize them. I'm confident that by continuing to improve our product we will be able to create more meaningful connections for our members which will drive the business and shareholder returns."
"Match.com has been a great success story, tripling profits over the past five years," said Mr. Diller. "Thomas's contribution in various management roles at Match over that time, including his role as CEO since April 2007, has helped make Match.com the category leader it is today."
As CEO of Match.com, Mr. Blatt will have primary responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of IAC's personals businesses, which includes the global operations for its flagship brand, Match.com, as well as Chemistry.com and DowntoEarth.com. Following the sale of Match.com Europe to Meetic, Match.com will operate leading subscription-based online dating sites in 24 countries, in eight languages and spanning five continents, as well as oversee its ongoing investment in Meetic.
Mr. Blatt will retain his current role as Executive Vice President of IAC and will continue to serve in IAC's Office of the Chairman, but will no longer serve as General Counsel of IAC. Gregg Winiarski, previously Vice President, Associate General Counsel, has been named the Senior Vice President, General Counsel of IAC, reporting to Mr. Blatt.
