Match.com Repudiates Baseless Lawsuit
Allegations Prove False: Sworn Statement from Woman Named in Suit Confirms She Was Never Employed by Match.com and Never Paid to Go on Dates

On November 10, 2005, a purported class action lawsuit was filed by one Matthew Evans against Match.com in federal court in Los Angeles. This lawsuit is based entirely on fictional accusations, and the woman named in the lawsuit as a Match.com employee has confirmed in a sworn statement that she has never been an employee of Match.com, nor was she ever paid to go on dates with any members or subscribers.

Today, Match.com formally demanded that Evans and his attorneys voluntarily dismiss this lawsuit as factually baseless. Should they fail to do so, Match.com will ask the court to dismiss the case as soon as possible and seek all available sanctions and damages from Evans and his attorneys.

"The suit apparently was filed by Evans and his attorneys on the basis of no evidence whatsoever and without any investigation of the facts as required by federal law," said Kristin Kelly, spokeswoman for Match.com. "We are exposing this suit for what it is -- a cynical attempt to impugn the good name of Match.com, at the expense of the millions of quality single people who have entrusted their emotional futures to us.
