Today, the dating site unveils the top 10 cities with the messiest sock drawers in America on its official blog, The Spark, which reveals that the people who often come across as being structured and detail-oriented might not be as organized as you'd think.
"An organized sock drawer can reveal a lot about a person's personality and biology," says Dr. Helen Fisher, biological anthropologist and chief scientific advisor to Chemistry.com. "From my studies on temperament with Chemistry.com, I have found that the Builder type (expressive of serotonin) who are typically orderly, conventional, respectful of the rules and detail-oriented have, in fact, the messiest sock drawers. And the Director personality type (expressive of testosterone and predominantly male) are actually the most particular about the state of their sock drawers. It's very revealing that the Builder type appears to be so meticulous to friends and neighbors, but behind closed doors, it's a whole different story."
Surprisingly, the messiest singles in America are found in the middle of the country, with Charleston, West Virginia taking the prize for the most unkempt sock drawer, and the city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa coming in a close second. Disheveled belongings are also the norm in locales like Ft. Smith, AR, Paducah, KY and Little Rock, AR. On the flip side, singles in Florida, taking the top five spots, seem to be the most particular about their possessions, with Miami, West Palm Beach and Ft. Meyers residents boasting the most organized sock drawers.
