Online Dating Site Partners with Southwest Airlines to Celebrate Singles Summer Travel

DALLAS, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- When summer travelers are looking to meet eligible bachelors and bachelorettes, Miami is the place where the heat is on, according to a survey from Match.com in partnership with Southwest Airlines. The 2010 Singles Summer Travel Survey found that South Beach in Miami received more than 43% of the votes for the beach destination with the most singles.

Not surprisingly, one of the most popular interests on Match.com's user profiles is traveling, with more than 80% of Match.com's single users listing travel as an interest. With summer travel in full swing, 40% of Match.com's single users said if given two weeks off, they would vacation at the beach.

Other popular singles summer beach destinations from the survey included:

  • Key West, FL 17.2 %
  • Manhattan Beach, CA 12.1%
  • South Padre Island, TX 10.1 %
  • Waikiki Beach, HI 9.3%
  • Hamptons, NY 7.5 %

However, the results of the Singles Summer Travel Survey show that singles aren't looking to travel solo for long. More than 60% of singles surveyed would vacation with a partner after only three months of dating, and 67% of singles say they would prefer to travel with someone they are dating versus family, friends or alone.

Additional results from the survey:

  • 71.6% of singles say the most important factor in choosing a summer travel destination is a beautiful beach
  • 43.8% of singles say their favorite vacation activity is lounging by the pool
  • 12.5% of singles say they would share a hotel room after only one week of dating
  • 56.7% of singles say they can't go on vacation without their camera
  • 40.5% of singles say Honolulu is the most romantic city in America
  • 44.7% of singles say a walk on the beach is the ideal romantic getaway
